We are a diverse group from all walks of life. Our passion is to write; to the best of our ability and sometimes beyond.
We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month, to read and critique our work in friendly, open discussion. However, the Group is not solely about entertaining ourselves. We support THE ESSEX AND HERTS AIR AMBULANCE by producing and selling anthologies of our work. So far we have raised in excess of £9,700, by selling our books at venues throughout Essex.
It is the story of Agnes,an abandined baby who starts her life in the care of nuns.Not a happy childhood and with the distress of pregnancy at an early age,and the child removed from her,she runs away.Penniless she walks, picking up washing up work, until she reaches Chartres where she stays on.Her background unfolds together with those of the people she gets to know in Chartres.Her life there is not always good but there are twists and turns that make for a good story and an undérstanding of her life and its complexities,and how she overcomes the flaws of her background by a quiet courage that is heart warming and endearing.
Sounds like a good book, what were your comments on it? I seem to have lost them somewhere in translation.
