OBSERVATION
By Peter Woodgate
Whilst
painting, we don’t exhibit the truth
we dye
just what we see,
but we
must delve much deeper
to
unlock life with the key.
The key
to understanding
that
all life upon this Earth
is
veiled by mankind’s blindness,
a weakness
and a curse.
Even
the scope’s (tele and micro)
that
push the doors ajar,
still
leave us short when viewing
those
things both near and far.
We
waive aside each miracle
that
exists, but not controlled,
by
humanity’s laws and reasoning
and
other things that we are told.
Our
minds must voyage far beyond
the
spectrum of our sight,
at the
rainbow’s end, a pot of gold,
and we
may see the light.

It's true we seldom look beyond the surface because that is all we can see. pulling a flower apart to discover what is inside is a mistake; what are you then left with?
ReplyDeleteYou're the poet Peter but I would class this as prose. Rhyme scheme, & meter (Rhythm not always present). But I must confess it is less contrived reads like my own, and I like it...
Lovely insightful poem Peter.Artists are always told by their teachers to let their eye delve deep into the colour spectrum to bring out a
ReplyDeletedifferent view and perspective.
